Harold Wright ... man on a mission.
Harold Charles Wright was born and raised on his family farm in Morrow, Louisiana.
His parents Garland “Catu” and Viola Wright grew rice, soybeans, and catfish. As a young child Harold competed
in horse shows winning numerous awards, while at the same time working on the family farm.
He became involved in the cattle industry by way of assisting his youngest son, Mark,
show Brahman Cattle. He become a member of both the Louisiana Cattleman’s Association and the Tangipahoa Parish
Cattleman’s Association and continues his membership in both to this day. Harold has held numerous leadership
positions in the Tangipahoa Parish Cattleman’s Association including serving as president and vice president.
Additionally he served as chairman of the popular Holiday Classic Cattle Show.
When his oldest granddaughter Amanda and his grandson Kyle began to participate in
local livestock shows, Harold realized the need for an agricultural arena in the Florida Parishes. Establishing
a multi-purpose event center would be essential in allowing the local 4-H and FFA organizations to have a place
to hold special events and show livestock.
Harold along with many others who shared his vision set out on a mission to lobby
and obtain funding for what is now known as the Florida Parishes Arena. He served on the initial board to
have the facility constructed and put into operation. The entire Wright Family supports the Arena’s endeavors
and participates in the various activities.
